The object lesson here is that we are not powerless in our democracy. We do not need permission to act to safeguard the rights of others and the rights of our nation. In a democracy we elect – as free people – to delegate our power (that’s sovereign power in Scotland) to our chosen representatives. Nowhere does this delegation of sovereign power imply that we have given away our power. We have simply lent it, and we can just as simply take it back.
Bandwagon Politics and Independence
Boyd and others – and not only others affiliated with RISE – have successfully popularised the opinion that independence is not all about the SNP, making way, at least in theory, for other pro-independence parties to share in the task of representing wider visions of an independent Scotland.
Hold! – The Need for Political Unity in Scotland
We didn’t get lumbered with soviet councils or re-education camps. What we got instead was 'sexy socialism.' The sexual revolution was a revolution too, and Scotland rather enjoyed it.
