Ireland is perhaps the only EU member as preoccupied with Brexit as Britain. Much of the Irish economy is dependent on trade with the United Kingdom and so the Irish government is looking for solutions to the increasingly likely worst case scenario.
A hard Brexit brings a great deal of uncertainty to Ireland. Ireland’s economy, as the United Kingdom’s closest EU neighbour, depends heavily on trade with Britain, and Theresa May’s hard line position on leaving the single market has worried many in Ireland.
If people aren’t feeling the improving effects of an economic recovery it simply isn’t right to speak of a recovery. It’s just a lie. There is no recovery for the people. There is however a recovery for the bank accounts of those who have profited from the misery of so many.
Right now there is a general election on the horizon, and I have decided that I will cast my vote for anyone – anyone at all – who can remove this shower from government. For the past decade we have watched the political Left in Ireland shatter into factions.
