What I mean by evil here is not some supernatural dark dualistic power of cosmic wickedness, but a primal enemy of humanity and life; a system of imperial politics driven by avarice which seeks its own enrichment and aggrandisement at the expense of peoples and languages and tribes and nations. Either way – whoever is elected in November – the US is f*cked. That wouldn’t necessarily be a problem for the civilised world (that’s pretty much everywhere but the US right now) if the mess was contained within in Washington and Los Angeles and the vast swathes of under-educated, over-opinionated, over-weight, dumbfuckary that lies between them, but it’s not.
These winner-takes-all games, like poker, in the end lead only to a show-down. As the geographical expansion of states has come to an end, the only avenues now available for expansion are consumption and finance. Rising population dictates increased use of oil, therefore increasing demand.
We the People put it that US foreign policy with regard to the Middle East has followed a policy doctrine that has sought to destabilise governments in the region to assist in their replacement with puppet regimes under the control of the United States. We charge US foreign policy and US foreign policy makers with wilfully causing the deaths of millions across the Middle East and around the world in its global war on terror.
According to the 1989 United Nations Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries – a convention the United States has refused to sign – the use by states of private contractors for military purposes is a breach of international law.
