Same old… same old… I still haven’t given up the smoking, and I still haven’t made it to black belt, and, yes, the two probably are related. So this will be the game plan for the coming year. Tobacco has been one of the great loves of my life, and I still very much do like to roll and smoke my own cigarettes. Enjoying a smoke does mean that my fitness has a limit that it would not have otherwise, so that habit really does need to go. Wish me luck – as it will be about my eight-hundredth attempt. This is as far as I am willing to go with resolutions this year, but there is one other thing.
It isn’t a resolution, but it is a decision. I have made a life decision. Sadly, I won’t be able to share what that is until the seventh of January – so please do stay tuned if you are interested. At some point in the year ahead I will have an operation to remove an abominably ugly and irritating pilonidal sinus from my posterior, but as yet the hospital hasn’t set a date for this miracle of modern medical science. Once this is behind me I intend getting back into training – lose the puppy fat (again) and break some sweat to get this illusive black belt. That’s the plan.
